Wenzhou Polytechnic recently gave online lectures to exchange students at home due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
"Online lecturing poses challenges to exchange students in terms of location and time differences, internet access and infrastructure," said Wu Junmei, deputy director of the school's department of international affairs.
"To ensure online lecturing goes smoothly, we have conducted surveys on overseas students to see if they are equipped with what is needed for online learning, and guided each student to download learning software."
The school has mainly been using DingTalk, a remote office tool developed by Alibaba Group, to give live lectures, interact with students and assign homework.
Wang Faguang, a teacher at the school, said that exchange students in Cambodia need to be ready for classes before 7 am due to the one-hour time difference.
"The students are very enthusiastic," said Wang. "They often raise questions during a lecture and I answer them immediately. The class atmosphere is very good."

Gan Shuen, another teacher, has been lecturing on WeChat. He will send a PPT file he has made for each lecture to the chat group of overseas students, and send voice messages to explain the material.
When taking Chinese lectures at home, Cambodian student Khun Panha will be accompanied by his family who will interact with the teacher to learn some Chinese.
"This is the first time for me to stay at home and take an online lecture from another country," said a Cambodian student named Kim. "Online learning increases my self-learning and problem-solving abilities. The teachers are very patient as well. I want to thank the Wenzhou Polytechnic for giving online lectures to us during this special time."
